This is perhaps Gruff's most personal record which saw him record in Paris with his tight touring band initially before adding sessions with Kate Stables of This Is The Kit (who contributed vocals to two songs), The BBC National Orchestra of Wales who can be heard across the album and Rhodri Brooks of Melin Melyn who added Pedal Steel. In Gruff's words "it starts off like a straight-up country-rock record, goes into this kaleidoscopic abyss and then comes back at the end, to try to stay on the road and stay hopeful".
