The Roger Skinner Collection

The New Zealand Music Scene is full of good bastards. One of the best good bastards is Roger Skinner. Roger is always the first to put his hand up for charity shows, if he isn’t already organising it. Roger’s career started in the late fifties playing in a skiffle band and he is still going strong in 2025. This compilation encompasses all of Roge’rs recording career, from the Beatlesque tracks of ‘The Pleasers’, all of his solo singles which covers everything from Pop, Psych, Country Rock and Glam along with his group, ‘Roger Skinner & The Motivation’.

This compilation highlights his song writing skills which saw him win the 1967 Apra Silver Scroll for one of the biggest Kiwi hits of the decade, ‘Let’s Think Of Something’, a big hit for ‘Larry’s Rebels’.

Roger was a regular guest in the countries living rooms,  especially during the sixties and seventies, firstly with his band ‘The Pleasers’ who were the resident band on the popular music programme, ‘Let’s Go’. During 1967 Roger’s smiling face and his homemade twin neck guitar were a weekly feature on the iconic tv pop show ‘C’mon’. The accompanying 16 page foldout booklet is a fascinating chronological trawl through Roger’s productive 67-year career
